News and Updates

25th October 2009 - Auto Assembly 2009 Non-Attendee Package Update

Many people purchased the non-attendee package for Auto Assembly 2009 and we know that you are all still waiting for these to be shipped out to you. Please bear with us on these - we are working on them and hope to be sending them out soon. As you know, part of the pack was to have been a personalised sketch from one of our comic guests. We were not able to get these done at the convention so we have had to make arrangements to get them done since then and this has been the main delay in getting the packs processed but as soon as we have the sketches with us, they will be shipped out.

As a way of an apology to those of you who are waiting, we are hoping to arrange for an additional item to be included in all of the non-attendee packages which we think you will all like... We can't say what it is here, but we don't think you will be disappointed!

25th October 2009 - Auto Assembly 2010 Deposit Payments

Many of you who attended Auto Assembly 2009 paid a deposit towards your tickets for Auto Assembly 2010. However, many of you have still not paid the balance on these. Your places ARE guaranteed for the convention but we do need the balance of your payment as soon as possible - the sooner we get the funds in the better as we are able to use this money to pay the convention's bills and to help us secure more guests or to ensure that we can offer more during the convention weekend. If you paid a deposit and haven't paid the balance, or if you can't remember if you paid a deposit or not, contact us here.

25th October 2009 - Auto Assembly 2010 Pre-Registrants Survey

For those of you who have pre-registered for Auto Assembly 2010, you may remember that in the booking confirmation emails that we sent out to you we mentioned a survey that we are conducting for Auto Assembly 2010 to find out what you want from next year's convention. Well, not everyone has responded yet so if you can spare a few minutes to complete the survey, please pop over to the survey here. Please note that this survey is for Auto Assembly 2010 pre-registrants ONLY and you will need your booking details to be able to complete the survey. EVERY response will make a difference to the convention so please help us!

If you want to help Liam reach his target of raising £2,000 for this very worthy cause, you can make a donation online through his JustGiving page here.

27th August 2009 - Auto Assembly 2010 Is Coming...

Yes, it's on the way... we can now reveal the first official details for Auto Assembly 2010! It will be another weekend convention and this time it will be taking place on Friday 13th - Sunday 15th August 2010 and once again it will be held in the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, on Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham. The main convention will take place on the Saturday and Sunday again but there will be bonus programmes of events on the Friday and Saturday evenings for weekend attendees only.

We already have our first three guests confirmed for the convention - regular Auto Assembly guest and Transformers artist Simon Williams, colourist Liam Shalloo and making a welcome return to Auto Assembly will be top Transformers artist Guido Guidi! We are in talks with more guests so keep coming back for more news and updates. We will be opening bookings VERY soon so be prepared for a big weekend...

24th August 2009 - The Aftermath!

We have had a much-needed break from updating the website following Auto Assembly 2009 but it was a phenomenal weekend. We shattered the European attendance record and had a staggering 501 Transformers fans from across the globe join us to celebrate 25 Years of Transformers, and boy did they celebrate!! There is so much to mention that we can't cover it all here, but fans everywhere are saying that not only was it the best Auto Assembly convention ever, but the best UK convention ever, and one of the most memorable weekends ever and many are saying that it was one of the best Transformers conventions they have ever been to!

Next Of Kin put on a stunning show, complete with backing vocals from a full crowd for their performances of "Dare" and "The Touch" on Saturday night and their encore on Sunday morning, Gregg Berger and Ian James Corlett were both superb (as were all of our comic guests as ever) and were on top form in our superb script reading which was one of the hits of the weekend, and the convention exclusive comic proved to be a hit with everyone who bought a copy or two!

Everyone who attended asked us when Auto Assembly 2010 is, and many have already pre-registered! The provisional date is 14th - 15th August 2010 (with a bonus programme on Friday 13th) and bookings will be open hopefully in the next week or so!

We can't that all of you enough who attended for all of your support and if you loved this year, you ain't see nothing yet!!

Please remember that the screening is exclusive to weekend attendees only, as is the whole of the Friday programme but IF we do have spare capacity in the screen then we *MAY* consider opening it up to other attendees who have arrived early for the convention. The only thing we must remind everyone is that because the cinema screening is an exclusive Auto Assembly event, you will need to wear your passes when you go to the cinema to ensure that you are sold tickets to the film.

4th August 2009 - Next Of Kin Rock Auto Assembly All Night Long!

Next of Kin, who are responsible for TRANSFORM the official theme song of Auto Assembly 2009, and who are performing a one-hour show of songs from the Transformers animated movie and other tracks as part of the Saturday evening programme of events are now performing a SECOND show at the convention...! After a short break after their Transformers-themed show, they will be back for a three hour show of other songs ranging from their own material and a mix of well-known rock and other songs, replacing the disco originally scheduled for the evening so the evening will now consist of almost FOUR HOURS of live music!

4th August 2009 - Is That An Unknown Transforming Robot I Hear...?!

Ray Curran, popular user on Youtube and known to many as "Ilovemess", will be appearing on stage on Saturday night performing his popular song Unknown Transforming Robot. Ray will be kicking off the evening's programme and we have heard rumours that some fans may even be thinking of turning it into a sing-a-long...!

23rd July 2009 - Next Of Kin Perform Auto Assembly 2009 Official Theme Song!

We are pleased to announce that we now have an Official Theme Song for Auto Assembly 2009! Performed by Next Of Kin, who are playing live as part of the Saturday evening programme, the song is called "Transform" and was originally recorded and submitted to Paramount for consideration for inclusion in the soundtrack for Revenge Of The Fallen. Expect to hear the song throughout the weekend and during the opening ceremony, and Next Of Kin will have copies of the song available to buy on CD at the convention. To hear it, take a look at a music video that they edited together to promote the track on YouTube here.

22nd July 2009 - Script Reading Auditions Open!

As part of the Saturday evening entertainment at Auto Assembly 2009 there will be a script reading featuring Gregg Berger, Ian James Corlett, comic artist Simon Williams and - subject to his appearance at the convention - Neil Kaplan in a brand new script being written exclusively for Auto Assembly by Simon Furman (who is writing All Hail Megatron issue 13 which is having a convention exclusive variant cover from Nick Roche and Liam Shalloo). However, the script has more than those few characters now it's time to give YOU the chance to appear on stage with these Transformers voice actors...!

Starting now, we are casting for four roles in this short play set in the Beast Wars era and to have a chance of playing one of these characters, all you need to do is decide which part(s) you want to audition for and just send us an MP3 of you doing that voice and include your ticket number with your email! We'll listen to all of the entries and select a winner and runner up to act as an understudy incase the winner isn't available on the evening! There are just three basic rules for this competition:- 1. All entrants must be 16 or over. 2. Entrants must be FULL WEEKEND attendees and available for the Saturday evening programme. 3. You must pre-register for the convention and auditions must be received by no later than 31st July 2009. Apart from that, the auditions are open to everyone, INCLUDING our guests! Naturally, Auto Assembly Committee members and their families are not eligible to enter.

We have open audtions for the following Beast Wars characters:- Megatron, Razorbeast, Dinobot and Waspinator so get your files to us as soon as possible! You can create dialogue yourself, perform existing lines from the TV show (or the comic in the case of Razorbeast) or request a short extract from the actual script and we will send a small piece for you to record but you need to hurry! To submit your audition, email it to us here.

1st June 2009 - Convention Exclusive IDW Comic

For the last few years, we've wanted to produce some form of "real" convention exclusive in addition to our own convention merchandise such as our postcards, pin badges etc. While toys have always been outside of our capabilities, we are now pleased to annouce that Auto Assembly has it's own exclusive comic, courtesy of IDW Publishing! Working with comic dealer Apocalypse Comics, we are proud to be bringing you our own convention exclusive edition of All Hail Megatron #13 with a brand new cover from Nick Roche and Liam Shalloo. For more information, visit the convention comic page.
