Auto Assembly News

For reviews and post-convention coverage on Auto Assembly 2005 visit the AA2005 section

Welcome to the Auto Assembly News section. Here you'll find all the latest news and developments on Auto Assembly as they happen as well as updates on the website and our other activities. Remember, if you don't see it here, it's just a rumour...!! Because of the amount of news, we've now archived older news that pre-dates Auto Assembly 2004 here and for AA2003 here.

16th September 2006 Auto Assembly: Target 2006 Aftermath

It's been a while since we updated the website but Auto Assembly: Target 2006 was a great success! Everyone who came along seemed to enjoy the day and although attendance was down slightly from Auto Assembly 2005 (400 from 409) we beat our charity fundraising efforts from the previous year raising £1,000 for the Acorns Childrens Hospice Trust, had a great guest line up and everyone seemed to love David Kaye, and everyone seems eager for Auto Assembly 2007 so stay tuned...

Lack Of Site Updates

You can't have failed to notice that we've been quiet for a while. Obviously we needed a bit of a break to unwind after Auto Assembly but I (Simon) had a bit of an enforced break from looking after the online side and behind the scenes side of things here at Infinite Frontiers as well... a couple of weeks after the convention my PC decided to die on me thanks to a motherboard failure and I was without it for over a month. It kept me out of the loop of things for a while and I still haven't really been able to get back on top of things with the Auto Assembly Forum properly! It's been pretty disruptive not only to my life but my bank balance as well!

RIP Brett Reynolds

For those of you who have been regular members of the Auto Assembly Forum, one of our members, Brett Reynolds (aka Primus) sadly passed away on 7th July. We have renamed part of the forum in memory of Brett and the forthcoming fiction special that we will be releasing will be producing in his memory as well. He had a wonderful sense of humour, was a wonderfully gifted writer and will be sadly missed by us all.

FREE Fiction Special

We had an incredible amount of entries for the fiction competition for Auto Assembly: Target 2006 and while we including some of them in Issue 8 of The Cybertronian Times, we couldn't include all of them so we've decided to pull them all together in a one-off fiction special along with cover art from Simon Williams and a bonus story from Brett Reynolds. This should be available in the next week or two and will be available FREE from the website as a downloadable PDF file. We still haven't decided the winner of the fiction competition yet as we simply haven't had the time to judge the entries but this is where YOU come in...

What we want you to do is download the fanzine and then pop over to the Auto Assembly Forum where you can vote for your favourite story. We'll keep the voting open for a month and then declare the winner!!

30th May 2006 Auto Assembly: Target 2006 Pre-Bookings Are CLOSED!

If you haven't pre-booked for Auto Assembly: Target 2006, we're sorry but it's TOO LATE!! We have now closed pre-registrations for the convention so you'll now have to come along on the day to gain admission to the event. If you have already posted your booking form then please note that we cannot guarantee to process bookings in time for the convention.

We do have over 100 places available for on-the-door attendees so if you are coming down to BIrmingham on Saturday there's a reasonable chance you'll be able to get into the convention. Remember that admission to the convention is 10:30 for pre-registrants and 11:30 for on the door attendees. For full details on how the system will work, click here. Hope to see you Saturday.

28th May 2006 Auto Assembly: Target 2006 Bookings Update

Bookings are still coming in for Auto Assembly: Target 2006 and we want to update you all on the situation here. For everyone who has pre-registered so far, we have now sent out all of the confirmation slips/packs for everyone who has pre-registered up to midnight on Friday 26th May 2006. All of bookings we have received since then will be posted out Tuesday 30th May by first class post and should reach you by Thursday 1st June at the latest.

However, for those of you who do live in the UK and who have not pre-booked there is STILL time to pre-register IF you book in the next 48 hours! As long as we receive your booking online by 10:00 am on Tuesday 30th May, we will be able to process them and send them out the same day. We can't guarantee to process any bookings received beyond this point. If you do need to pre-register, go to the Bookings Page.

At 11:00 am on 30th May we will be making the final draw to see who is taking part in the consulation exercise taking place at the convention so you still have a chance to get involved in that part of the convention as well!!

Tickets Remaining

At the time of writing, there are approximately 130 places left for Auto Assembly: Target 2006 including on-the-door places which is fewer than last year. While Auto Assembly 2005 was NOT a complete sell out, we have had considerably more bookings than last year at this point and we are expecting to have more places confirmed in the next couple of days that have been provisionally reserved so this figure will be reduced. With expected local press coverage also expected prior to the convention we still STRONGLY recommend pre-booking while you still can.

Charity Auction Payments

For those of you interested, we are hoping to be able to take credit card payments (via PayPal) for items in the charity auction. We are currently working on having internet access at the convention although this will be for admistrative use only. We must stress that such payments will be subject to a 5% handling fee as we are charged by PayPal for all payments received. We will also be able to accept card payments for purchases from the Auto Assembly registration desk for merchandise including copies of our event magazine, other items and Titan Books graphic novels that we will be selling.

Guido Guidi Sketches

Guido Guidi will be doing sketches for fans at Auto Assembly although we have been asked by sponsors TF Auctions to stress that - because of time - these will be limited although Guidi will be happy to sign autographs throughout the day.

Goodie Bag Update

While we were preparing the goodie bag, we have been able to confirm the exact numbers of most of the items we have available in the packs for everyone this year. The situation is as follows:- Ladybird G1 books (first 139 attendees), G2 Colouring/Activity books (first 294 attendees), Cards Inc G1 Stickers (first 340 attendees), and for every attendee are:- Auto Assembly Postcard #002 (Simon Williams), Auto Assembly Postcard #003 (Guido Guidi), Model & Collector's Mart magazine, and a bag of Transform-A-Snacks. We are still waiting for a delivery of assorted items from Metrodome which will include various postcards but we don't know how many of these there will be.

Colouring Competition

One for all our younger attendees... we've got a free competition lined up. Just pick up a colouring sheet with a lineart version of one of our postcards and a FREE pack of colouring pencils from the registration desk and just hand your entry in later in the day to be judged by some of our guests. We've got some great prizes on offer for the winners!

22nd May 2006 Auto Assembly: Target 2006 Charity Toy Collection!

As part of our charity fundraising efforts, we are running something rather different for our nominated charity this year... For those of you who don't know, we are raising money this year for the Acorns Childrens Hospice Trust - a small group of three childrens hospices here in the West Midlands area in the UK. Their invaluable work has sadly been struggling for funds lately and we are proud to be helping them with our fundraising efforts through our charity raffle and auction which has some fantastic items this year. However, we are also doing something else to help the charity with it's three centres...

We will be having a drop-off point at the convention where all of you attending will be able to donate all of your unwanted toys which we will be passing onto to the Trust at the end of the convention for distribution to the three hospices where the children can make use of these during their stay. What we would love is if any of you have toys that you don't want sitting in cupboards that we could make use of and give a new home to. The toys can be anything from any range as long as they are brand new and still sealed. We don't mind if you donate a single toy or a box full - just anything you can spare! The only things we must ask are that 1) the toy is new and sealed; and 2) the toy is a European or US release (to meet toy safety laws) and apart from that, it's up to you!!

We've already had a number of toys donated from several ranges including RiD and Armada but as we have said, we will accept toys from ANY range so please be as generous as you can. As a way of saying "thankyou", everyone who donates toys will be mentioned here on the Auto Assembly website.

11th May 2006 Podcast Show Three Goes Live!

We've just uploaded the third Auto Assembly Podcast to the server for all of you to download! It's an epic show running in at a massive 80 minutes long but this one is worth it! We've got the promised interview with comic artist Simon Williams, the latest news on Auto Assembly: Target 2006, plenty of TF chat, another competition plus a guest appearance from G1 voice actor Neil Ross! You can get the show here.

2nd May 2006 Pre-Registration Deadlines Set!

For those of you planning on pre-registering for Auto Assembly: Target 2006, we have some VERY IMPORTANT information for all of you on the deadlines for pre-registration for UK and overseas attendees. In order to ensure that all of you who pre-register receive your Confirmation Slips and Information Packs in time for the convention, we have had to set very strict deadlines for bookings and we will have to adhere to these very tightly this year. Youi can find details of all of the booking deadlines here.

18th April 2006 Mike Collins Makes Auto Assembly Debut!

We can now officially confirm that our ninth guest at Auto Assembly: Target 2006 - as first revealed on the second podcast - is artist and writer Mike Collins. Mike has worked for Marvel primarily as an artist but writing stories on their G1 titles. He also worked on some of the G1 storybooks for Ladybird as well. This is Mike's debut at Auto Assembly. You can see a full list of all our guests here.

10th April 2006
Auto Assembly Podcast Show Two Now Online!

We've just recorded our second podcast show and you can now download it from the site! It's even bigger than the first show, clocking in at a massive 56 minutes long but we have some great Auto Assembly: Target 2006 news in it including details of our latest special guest attending this year's convention, an exclusive AA item from Wildfur, plus a special guest appearance from none other than Wally Wingert! You can find the show here.

Booking Confirmation Slips Shipped

We have now sent out most of the booking confirmation slips out for the convention. There are just a few for bookings received in the last week or so, dealers, and a few people who we are still waiting for further information from on their forms (correct names etc) but apart from that, most of the first 176 of you will have had your slips with the next batch going out this week.

18th March 2006
Auto Assembly Podcast Now Online!

We've just finished the first show and it's available NOW to download!! It's a big file (running it at over 30Mb!) so if you're not on broadband be prepared for a long wait but as the show is over 35 minutes long you can see why! It's packed with Auto Assembly news, Transformers chat, a great competition and four great pieces of music! You can find the show here.

12th March 2006 TransformersCon 2004 Exclusive Comic Now Shipping!

Some of you may remember that we had been taking orders for this limited edition convention exclusive comic produced by the Canadian Transformers convention TransformersCon through the AA website. The comic was a special version of Dreamwave's G1 comic Vol 3 Issue 1 featuring a new Dinobot cover from Don Figueroa. We had experienced a number of difficulties with shipping and it seemed as if we weren't going to be able to fulfil the orders....

Well we're pleased to announce that not only are the comics with us and shipping out to all of you who ordered them tomorrow, but they'll be back on sale through the website later this week and available at Auto Assembly: Target 2006 in June along with a limited supply of autographed copies!!

Auto Assembly Podcast!

We're working on a new downloadable podcast show from the Auto Assembly stable right now and as well as the usual Transformers chat, it will have all the latest news and developments on Auto Assembly, much of which will be breaking news that you will hear on the podcast first, interviews with Auto Assembly guests, competitions and much more, as well as original and licensed music from new and established bands! We've recently finished the in-house pilot show and we're recording the first 25-30 minute show later this week and hopefully uploading it to our server for free downloading in about a week's time.

4th February 2006 Dealer Table Bookings Closed!

Dealers Tables have sold faster than ever for Auto Assembly: Target 2006 and we have now reached the point that we have had to close bookings on them this year. For those dealers who have not already booked tables, or provisionally reserved them with us but not yet paid, you will now need to contact us to be added to a "reserve list" and we will then contact you if any more spaces become available.

For more details, see the Dealers Bookings Page in the AA2006 part of the website.

3rd January 2006 Auto Assembly 2005 Raffle Prize Claim Deadline Extended!

Many of you who won prizes in last year's charity raffle still haven't come forward to claim your raffle prizes yet and the original deadline of 31st December 2005 has now passed. As such, we have decided to extend the claims deadline until 28th February 2006 for you to make a claim on prizes that you may have won.

If you think you may have won something in the raffle, just go to the Auto Assembly 2005 section of the website and check your raffle tickets against the numbers listed on the page and follow the instructions. Any prizes that are still unclaimed by 28th February will be put into the raffle or auction at Auto Assembly 2006 or will be listed on TF Auctions and any funds raised there will be added to the charity monies for this year's charity fundraising efforts.

Please note that any claims that have been submitted to us recently are being processed and will be dealt with as soon as possible.

21st December 2005 Guido Guido To Attend Auto Assembly 2006!

Auto Assembly 2006 is pleased to announce that, courtesy of sponsors TFauctions.com, we will be joined by renowned comic artist Guido Guidi for Auto Assembly 2006 on Saturday 3rd June 2006 for the fifth annual Auto Assembly convention in Birmingham, England...

Guido will be at Auto Assembly 2006 and it will be his first ever UK convention appearance. He is joining us thanks to a wonderful sponsorship deal from the Transformers auction website www.tfauctions.com and they will be bringing Guido over to the event. Guido will be in attendance to meet fans, sign autographs, will have a large selection of his original artwork for sale and will be joining our other comic guests on stage for a Q&A session which will include other comic luminaries such as Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman.

Guido signed a deal with TF Auctions earlier this year to make his artwork available online exclusively through TF Auctions, no longer selling his work through eBay and has recently been listing a large amount of original toy box art, G1 Dreamwave comic artwork, pages from the comics included with assorted Armada toys and new IDW cover artwork.

Following extensive negotiations, TFAuctions have now been officially endorsed by Hasbro and has launched it's brand new look on 21st December 2005. The site continues to provide an alternative to eBay for Transformers fans looking to buy and sell Transformers toys and collectibles. The site has it's listings broken down into specific ranges to make items easier to find and has sections dedicated to Guido Guidi and more recently Wildfur (Simon Furman/Andrew Wildman).

In addition to Guido, we will also be joined from the comic world by Simon Furman, Andrew Wildman, Lee Sullivan, Geoff Senior, Simon Williams and Jason Cardy and our guest of honour for the convention is none other than David Kaye - the voice of Megatron in Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Armada, Energon and Cybertron!! As with all conventions, our guests are appearing subject to work and personal commitments. We are also in talks with further guests and we hope to be making further announcements shortly.

You can visit the TF Auctions site at www.tfauctions.com

Hope to see you there!

We've just put the electronic booking form up on the website for AA2006 and as well as booking tickets for the convention, you can pre-order copies of The Cybertronian Times Issue 8 and order next year's convention exclusive pin badge! With almost 40 bookings in already, this is the fastest way to guarantee your place for AA2006!

6th July 2005 Auto Assembly 2006 Bookings Open To Everyone!

We have now opened the bookings for Auto Assembly 2006 up to everyone and not just those of you who attended Auto Assembly 2005 and with tickets selling faster than every, we'd strongly recommend you book sooner rather than later! We've got a booking form available for downloading on the site already in Word format and we'll be adding a PDF version in the next few days.

The online booking facilities should be available within the next 7 days for those of you looking to buy tickets by credit card.

23rd June 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Charity Fundraising Update

The first figures are in for our fundraising efforts and so far we have managed to raise the sum of £931.75 for our two charities - the NSPCC and Acorns Trust - from the Charity Auction and Charity Raffle held at this year's Auto Assembly. Many thanks to all of your who bid generously in the auction, to Neil Kaplan for being a wonderful guest auctioneer and to all of you who bought raffle tickets.

Please note that this is NOT the final total. We are still working out the final post-convention budget and are waiting for a few final invoices to come in for printing so there may be more money from excess event funds to add. Also, we still have pin badges, postcards and copies of Issue 7 of The Cybertronian Times available for sale and a percentage of the sale of these will be going to our two charities as well. Also, if any of you would like to make additional donations to be split between the two charities, please get in touch.

The total is slightly down on AA2004's total of £1,000 although £100 of that was a single post-convention donation from one of our dealers so the actual fundraising efforts exceeded last year's total, even though we had fewer auction items!

Thanks again to everyone who supported us!

21st June 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Unclaimed Raffle Prizes

We now have the full list of unclaimed raffle prizes from this year's charity raffle online along with details on how to claim prizes if you are one of the lucky winners who wasnt't able to stay for the prize draw. There are still some great items unclaimed including a complete set of RiD DVDs so dig out your raffle tickets and head over to the raffle page here!

14th June 2005 Auto Assembly: Target 2006 Bookings Update....!

We're off to a flying start already for Auto Assembly: Target 2006. Tickets have only been on sale for 9 days and we have already had more bookings than the first Auto Assembly back in 2000! We do have a cut-off of around 500 people for next year and with 34 bookings already and more coming in daily, there is a very strong chance we'll sell out well in advance. Tickets will go on general sale in about 3 weeks time and we'll be sending the first batch of confirmation slips out in mid-July.

Auto Assembly 2005 Charity Raffle

We'll be listing the unclaimed raffle prizes and winning ticket details on the site by the end of the week along with instructions on how to claim your prizes if you are one of the lucky winners. We should be announcing the full total raised for our two charities in the next day or so when we've done the final count....

6th June 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Breaks European Record!!!

Well, we did it!! Thanks to all of you who came along, we managed to beat the record!! While we didn't get the full attendance we thought we would (maybe a lot of you thought the event was going to have sold out so didn't come along! lol), we had a grand total of 409 attendees beating the previous record of 400 set by Transforce back in 2002!! Thanks to everyone who came along and gave us their support.

We'll be adding photos, reports and more in the new-look AA2005 section of the site so keep checking it for updates!

David Kaye To Attend Auto Assembly 2006!

Yessssss! We announced at the weekend that David Kaye, the voice of Megatron in Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Armada, Energon and now Cybertron, is going to be our guest of honour for Auto Assembly 2006. At the moment, bookings are ONLY open to Auto Assembly 2005 attendees but we will be opening these up to general sale in about a month's time. Places are limited to around 500 and we have already sold about 30 tickets!!

1st June 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Pre-Bookings CLOSED!!

We have now closed the pre-bookings for Auto Assembly 2005 as we are in the final packing stages and getting ready to go over to the Clarendon Suites so we can't process any more bookings properly! If yuo have already pre-booked, your confirmation slips have been posted and should be with you in time for AA2005 if you have not already received them.

We do still have around 100 places available for those of you planning on coming along on the day, but we would advise you all to get here early to get a good place in the queue as once we hit the cut-off point, we will not be able to let anyone else in! On-the-door prices are £10 for adults and £7.50 for children, students etc.

If you have pre-registered and not received your confirmation slips by the time you leave to come along you will need to ensure that you bring the following:- PayPal order confirmation (including the transaction ID), proof of personal ID including address (such as mobile phone bill). If you don't have either of these, it could delay your admission into the event.

We're looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!!

AA2005 Final Guest Update

Sadly Lee Sullivan won't be able to join us at Auto Assembly this year due to unforseen family commitments. However, we do have an item for the auction signed by him and he will be back with us for Auto Assembly 2006. However, we do have a surprise....

Also, because of staff shortages, Maximum Entertainment have just informed us today that they will not be able to make it this year. However, we will be still filming Auto Assembly 2005 ourselves (and we are still looking for volunteers!) and hopefully the edited footage will be used on the RiD box set appearing later this year. They are going to be sending some items along for us to give away as prizes though.

Geoff Senior To Attend Auto Assembly 2005!!

Transformers comic legend Geoff Senior will be making his first Auto Assembly appearance this weekend! He will be around to sign autographs and will be taking part in the comic panel at 1:00 pm.

30th May 2005
Auto Assembly 2005 Vox Pops!!

We need a volunteer camera person with a digital camcorder (with Firewire/I-Link/IEEE-1394 connection) to record a whole bunch of people doing brief vocal opinions on what TransFormers means to them for a new last-minute programme item we've added to Auto Assembly 2005!!

Anyone will be welcome to come and sit in front of a camera for a few minutes to talk about about what you really think about Transformers, why it appeals to you, and what really gets you interested and excited about the TransFormers. We are hoping to use the footage recorded on a future Auto Assembly product AND send all your comments to Don Murphy, producer of the live-action movie to give him a feel for what the UK fans think and feel about TFs!!

Anyone armed with a miniDV or similar camcorder who is willing to spend some time on this at AA next week, please contact us urgently at enquiries@autoassembly.org.uk and come along to Auto Assembly 2005 and have YOUR say! Many thanks!

28th May 2005
Auto Assembly 2005 Record Breaker Competition!!

The all-time European attendance record for a TransFormers event was set by Paul Cannon's Transforce back in 2002 as was a staggering 400 attendees!! We'd love to smash that record this year, and pre-bookings are still going brilliantly and we're going to be running a fantastic competition in the closing stages before Auto Assembly 2005....

As a special prize, the 401st person to register for Auto Assembly 2005 - whether it is electronically, postally or attending on the day - will received a family ticket for Auto Assembly 2006 (two adults and two children) worth £54!! We are still getting bookings coming in all the time and we are not saying how many we have received to date so the 401st person could book at any time now so if you want t a chance to win this great prize you'll have to book sooner rather than later or aim to be near the front of the queue for the on the door places!

25th May 2005
Auto Assembly 2005 Exclusive Postcard!

In addition to the pin badges that have been produced, we have now confirmed its second exclusive item. What is hoped to be the first in what will be an ongoing series of postcards following on from the ones produced by Metrodome for past events. We are producing these postcards ourselves and this year's postcard features RiD Prime and the artwork has been produced by Simon Williams. Every attendee will get one postcard absolutely FREE in your goodie bag (giving all of you something to get signed by Neil Kaplan!), but if you want to buy extras for your friends, you will be able to from the registration desk for just 50p each. The postcard is limited to a print run of 1,000 and a watermarked preview image can be found here.

Auto Assembly 2005 Goodie Bag Update!

Another item has been added to the Goodie Bag being given away this year at Auto Assembly. As well as the growing list of items including the exclusive postcard, we have a CD-ROM being produced by TheTransformers.Net and TransformersForum.com that will be given to the first 400 pre-registrants of Auto Assembly 2005. The CD-ROM contains over 400 fan produced Transformers art pieces, flash animations, fan fiction, interviews and some behind the scenes work for the Metrodome produced comics ‘The Beast Within’ and ‘The Beast Within: Part 2 Consequences. There are working sketches for the comic, original scripts and BOTH comics in digital form. The CD-ROM contains previously unavailable material and as it is limited to the first 400 attendees, we'd recommend you pre-book quickly to secure your copy!

Auto Assembly All-Time Attendance Record Beaten

It's official, Auto Assembly 2005 is the biggest Auto Assembly event EVER! On 23rd May 2005 we had our 323rd person register as part of a party booking, beating the total number of attendees from 2004 which was 320. At the rate bookings are coming in, we are well on track for Auto Assembly 2005 to be Europe's biggest ever TransFormers event so if you haven't already booked why not come along and be a part of history! There is still time to book online and we are hoping to have limited places available on the door!

Auto Assembly 2005 Charity Auction Update

We have updated news on our charity auction taking place next weekend. First, the special guest auctioneer has been announced and it is none other than our guest of honour Neil Kaplan! In addition, Neil will be bringing some rather special and rare items over with him from the US, including items signed by some of the RiD cast including Daniel Riordan, the voice of Megatron!

Wildfur Auto Assembly 2005 Exclusive

For the second year running, Wildfur will be bringing a limited edition signed and bookplated version of one of the products they have worked on with them to Auto Assembly! This year, it will be copies of the Transformers: War Within - The Dark Ages trade paperback! They are expecting to have around 30 copies of this available so it will be extremely rare and it will be limited to a MAXIMUM of one per person! If you want to get a copy of this, it is highly likely that it will go to one of the pre-registrants who will get early entry to Auto Assembly 2005 so there's no better reason to pre-book while you still have a chance!!

There will be ONE copy of the bookplated edition in the charity auction available later in the day, but apart from that, this will be your only chance to get this edition of the book!

War Within: Dark Ages Artwork Debuts At Auto Assembly 2005

For the first time ever, Andrew Wildman will be making some of his original artwork from the Dreamwave series, The War Within: Dark Ages, available for sale at this year's Auto Assembly from Wildfur's table!

24th May 2005
Auto Assembly 2006 Announced!!!

We are proud to announce the first details for our next event taking place in 2006! While Auto Assembly 2005 is still 11 days away, we are able to confirm the first few details already and we have some exciting plans for next year's event!

Auto Assembly 2006 will be taking place on Saturday 3rd June 2006 and once again it will be held at the Clarendon Suites on the Hagley Road, Birmingham, England. We already have our first few guests confirmed and they include (subject to work commitments) Auto Assembly veterans Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman, Lee Sullivan, artist Simon Williams and colourist Jason Cardy.

Ticket prices are increasing for next year to £15 for adults and £12 for children/students etc. but there is a very good reason for this... to cover the costs for our guest of honour. We have already CONFIRMED our voice actor for Auto Assembly 2006 and we will be announcing them at Auto Assembly 2005!! Unlike previous years where we have been dependent on luck or sponsorship to get voice actors, we are including the costing into our budget to guarantee getting an actor for AA2006. We are also in talks with another overseas guest who we may be able to announce on 4th June!

Tickets will go on sale at Auto Assembly 2005 in 11 days time and and they will initially only be available to AA2005 attendees and there will be a special offer for anyone who books at Auto Assembly 2005. After 2nd July 2005, sales will be opened up to anyone. This is one event you won't want to miss and the best chance to guarantee your place at Auto Assembly 2006 is to join us this year! Full details on Auto Assembly 2006 will be online in about two weeks time.

Titan Books Sponsors Auto Assembly 2005!

Titan Books have now joined the list of sponsors supporting Auto Assembly 2005. As well as sponsoring the event financially helping with the event's guest costs, they will be advertising in The Cybertronian Times. Sadly, they will not be able to be at the event this year, but it is planned that copies of their graphic novels WILL be on sale at the event on the Auto Assembly sales desk.

23rd May 2005
Auto Assembly 2005 Art Workshop Announced!

We have just confirmed another item for our growing programme of activities. Simon Williams will be conducting a short art workshop/demonstration during the afternoon for any budding artists or anyone interested in drawing TransFormers characters, focusing mainly on G1 Prime in keeping with the day's Prime and Megatron theme. It will be in the hall itself somewhere between the main activities in the theatre area.

Auction Update

We have also added another item to the charity auction. The cover for the event magazine this year has been drawn by comic artist Simon Williams and features RiD Prime and the original black and white for the cover will be going into the auction! The cover for last year's magazine, that was also made into one of our two exclusive postcards, raised a massive £90, so hopefully this one will do just as well! 22nd May 2005 Volunteers Update!!

We are still after more volunteers to help out at Auto Assembly but we thought we'd give you a brief update on some of the things we have planned for those of you who are going to be getting involved in helping out! Anyway, we can announce that everyone who volunteers and helps out on the day itself or during the Friday night set-up will get a mystery free gift and if you are able to come along on the Friday night, we are going to be joined by at least two of Auto Assembly's guests, and quite possibly three of them so you'll get an early chance to meet them.

Add to that the early entry at the same time as our event staff/dealers and preferential seating in the theatre area and it really is worthwhile getting involved! Please see if you can spare an hour or two while you're with us... it will really help to make a difference!

Still Time To Pre-Register....

If you still haven't booked for AA2005 yet, there is still time! We can take postal bookings for another 7 days and electronic bookings for another day or two after that but the quicker you get your bookings in to us, the faster we can process them! We are still working on getting more guests and more surprises and with bookings still coming in, and high numbers expected on the day, we can't guarantee there will be plenty of on-the-door spaces available so book NOW!!

Auto Assembly 2006 - Ticket Sales

We should be announcing the date and first details for Auto Assembly 2006 in the next couple of days. What we can say right now is that tickets will be going on sale at Auto Assembly 2005! One thing that we will be doing is restricting ticket sales for the first 28 days to AA2005 attendees only so if you want to be at the front of the queue for AA2006 tickets then you need to be at AA2005! And with what we have planned for next year, it's an event you won't want to miss!!

20th May 2005 Weekend Of Announcements...

We're not going to say anything right now, but keep coming back to the website and the forum throughout the next 48 hours as we're going to have a lot of announcements to make about Auto Assembly 2005 and hopefully a few special announcements and the first pieces of news about Auto Assembly 2006...

Auction Update

Kicking things off is the latest addition to our charity auction, courtesy of David Sobolov, the voice of Depth Charge from Beast Wars. Rather than sending a signed photo, David has sent us a copy of the original Audition Sheet he received for Depth Charge back in 1998 when he first tested for the part! It's a fairly unusual item and David has signed this for us! You can find more details on this - and the other items so far - in the Charity Auction section of the site.

18th May 2005 Auto Assembly Teams Up With TF Auctions For AA2006 Guest Fundraising!!

Okay, so Auto Assembly 2006 isn't officially announced... yet.... but we are going to be holding a number of auctions throughtout the year as we did for Auto Assembly 2005 to help raise funds toward our guest budget. The items will be primarily things that have been donated and all monies raised (apart from fees, postage, PayPal charges etc) will go directly into our guest fund with any excess after AA2006 going to next year's charities.

For AA2005, the auctions were run through eBay but for AA2006 they will be held exclusively over at TF Auctions. The first items will start to appear shortly after Auto Assembly 2005 and will include fanzines, autographed items, toys and more! Just look out for us on there as seller "autoassembly"!

15th May 2005 Booking Confirmations Update!

For those of you who have already booked for Auto Assembly 2005, we thought we'd give you all an update on the state of play regarding confirmation slips. The first 288 bookings placed have now had the confirmation slips sent out with a large batch being sent out yesterday first class to those of you in the UK and airmail to those of you overseas. This covers every booking received by us by post or electronically up to 2:00 pm on Saturday 14th May 2005.

Bookings received between now and 12:00 noon on Monday 16th May will be despatched on Monday afternoon and bookings received by 12:00 noon on Tuesday 17th May will go out on Tuesday afternoon. All subsequent bookings will be sent out within 48 hours of them being received by us.

To receive your booking confirmations as quickly as possible we would recommend online bookings and if you book by 10:00 pm UK time, then we will endeavour to have your confirmation slips posted first class the following day.

12th May 2005 Bookings Surge!

Bookings are still flying in and we are now just a couple of bookings short of 300! If you still haven't booked up, we'd now recommend that you book online rather than sending in your booking forms to ensure that we can process your bookings in time and get your confirmation slips out to you!

Volunteers Wanted!

We still want volunteers to help out with Auto Assembly 2005 so if you haven't already sent in your volunteering forms yet and want to help, please send them in or email us with your details!

Leonard Nimoy Supports Auto Assembly 2005!!

Yes, the original voice of Galvatron, Leonard Nimoy, has once again given his support to Auto Assembly 2005 by donating a signed photo to this year's charity auction! The list of items is growing steadily and joins recent additions including a signed Beast Wars script from Bob Forward and original Energon comic artwork from Guido Guidi! This year's auction is looking hot!

4th May 2005 The Rush Is On!!

It looks as if the rush period for bookings for Auto Assembly 2005 has now started, about a week early so if you are planning on coming along this year and pre-registering, we'd strongly recommend that you get your bookings to us as fast as possible so we can process your bookings and get your confirmation slips out to you as quickly as we can. With over 250 pre-registrations in already, we are expecting another 100-150 pre-registrations to come in over the next 4 weeks, with bookings likely to come in at a rate of between 5 and 10 a DAY between now and the event! Book now to avoid missing out!

25th April 2005 Dealers Tables Sold Out!!

We are now fully booked for the dealers tables for Auto Assembly 2005! We may be able to release an extra table or two nearer the date, but for now we are not taking any more bookings for dealers tables unless we have already agreed it with you! We did warn all you dealers to get your bookings in quickly! The last tables were taken last night so it's now too late!

21st April 2005 Auto Assembly 2004 Pre-Bookings Figure Beaten!!

Well, we've now gone past the pre-booking figure from last year already and there's no sign of a slow-down! We've looked back at the pre-bookings from last year and we had a staggering 100 pre-registrations in the last 3 weeks for AA2004 so if that happens this year, we could be looking at about 350-400 pre-registrations!

17th April 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Bookings Update

Bookings Bookings are going incredibly well and are still coming in far faster than last year. At the moment we have had over 200 pre-bookings and with just seven weeks to go, we are just a couple of bookings short of the pre-booking total for Auto Assembly 2004 and we still haven't hit the last minute rush period which is due to start in the next week or two! During this late stage, we normally get about 40% of our pre-bookings so we'd recommend that you hurry now to get your bookings in!

We do have a maximum capacity for the hall this year and if the bookings continue at this rate, even if we do allow on-the-door bookings, we may not be able to allow everyone in because of fire regulations as we usually get about 50% of the pre-bookings again turning up on the day so if we have about 350 people pre-register (and we are well on course for at least that amount), we could be looking at a further 200 on-the-door which will mean us turning some of those away.

Also, with the on-the-door prices being higher (£10 for adults and £7.50 for concessions), there's no better reason for pre-registering so why not get your booking in now!!

Booking Confirmation Slips

For those of you who have already booked, we are in the process of sending out the confirmation slips and information packs at the moment. We have sent out about 40% of these so far and we are hoping to have the remainder sent out over the coming week. The packs will contain your booking confirmation details, a general info pack on the event, competition entry forms, plus details on how you can volunteer to help out on the day (and we do need as many volunteers as possible so please try to help out if you can - we're working on some great benefits for those of you who get involved!). If you have already booked and haven't received them within the next three weeks, please get in touch and let us know.

Guest Update!

The guest line-up for AA2005 is growing yet again and is now the biggest line-up ever for Auto Assembly! As we have said before our guest of honour this year is NEIL KAPLAN, the voice of OPTIMUS PRIME and RO-TOR from TransFormers: Robots In Disguise! Joining us again will be legendary TF comic writer Simon Furman, artists Andrew Wildman, Lee Sullivan and Simon Williams, colourist Jason Cardy and from the world of TF videos representatives from Metrdome and the latest addition to our guest list Maximum Entertainment!

We are talking to more guests so expect more announcements or a possible surprise or two on the day!

Auto Assembly Exclusives - Pin Badges!!

We've just taken delivery of the first of this year's Auto Assembly exclusives and they're enamel pin badges featuring the Auto Assembly logo featuring an amalgamation of a couple of Autobot and Maximal insignia in red and green enamel. They are available for just £2 each and only to those who are attending this year's event. For more information on these, a photo and details of the other exclusives this year, pop over to our Exclusives page here.

Goodie Bag

Our now-traditional Goodie Bag for AA2005 is shaping up to be a classic! We've got four items confirmed already from four sponsors (stickers, posters, magazines and the infamous Transform-A-Snacks) and we are finalising two more right now which could bring the value of the packs to around £5 each! The posters and stickers are limited to the first 150 attendees so any of you booking from now on will miss out on these but we are still trying to arrange for even more items so look out for details in future updates!

Activities

We've got loads of activities and events lined up for the day itself. As well as the dealers tables that you'd expect to find, there will be:- guest talks; charity auction and raffle; toy display focusing on Prime and Megatron; extensive art display including a massive selection of original comic art; videos; art, writing, quizzes and various other competitions; games area with board and video games; kids area; fan area; bar(!); and more to be announced! We will also be having a small programme of activities on the Friday evening EXCLUSIVELY for our dealers, staff and volunteers which will havea selection of videos running and we may even have a few special surprises in store...!

20th March 2005 Auto Assembly 2005 Voice Actor Confirmed!!

We're proud to announce that, for the second year running, Auto Assembly is going to be welcoming a Transformers voice actor! We are going to be joined this year by none other than Neil Kaplan, the voice of Optimus Prime and Ro-Tor from Transformers: Robots In Disguise!

We did have plans to bring another voice actor over to Auto Assembly but these had been cancelled thanks to talks we were having with a major sponsor breaking down unexpectedly. Neil contacted us recently with a fantastic offer regarding his appearance and combining the offer Neil made, plus the wonderful support we have had from all of you booking early and through funds raised from our online auctions and fundraising through the adverts on our website we have been able to make Neil's appearance happen without the need for sponsorship!!

Neil will be involved quite extensively with the event, and he is also going to be helping us with the auction and as we write this, is arranging for some rather special items to be signed from many of his fellow RiD cast members in the States...! We're sure that you'll all make Neil feel extremely welcome.

Auto Assembly 2003 Pre-Booking Figure Smashed!

We have just gone through the pre-booking total for Auto Assembly 2003 a couple of days ago and we are now on course to break all Auto Assembly attendance records. At the time of writing this, we have had 165 pre-bookings, 10 more than AA2003 and we are closing in steadily on the AA2004 pre-booking total and we are nowhere near the point where the rush starts yet! We are definitely going to beat last year's total at this rate, and clearly going to beat that from pre-bookings alone. If you want to come along, don't leave it to chance and just turn up on the day... you're likely to be disappointed!

14th March 2005 150 Pre-Bookings And Counting...!

We've reached the 150 pre-bookings milestone earlier today. Not only is this just a few bookings short of the fgure we had for Auto Assembly 2003 but we're closing in fast on the total number of pre-bookings we had for Auto Assembly 2004! However, most importantly, it means that the Goodie Bag contents have now changed for all of you who book from now on...

The stickers and posters are no longer available to anyone else who pre-registers - we have run out of these - so all you will get are the bags of Transform-A-Snacks and copies of Model & Collectors Mart until we can arrange for items from other sponsors although we are working on more goodies as we write this.

The other siginicant factor in reaching this total is that we are now going to be making ANOTHER prize draw for all of you who are amongst the first 150 pre-registrants and we'll be announcing the winner shortly! For those of you who have booked, good luck!!

6th March 2005 AA2005 Goodie Bag Update!

Bookings are still coming in at a fantastic rate to the extent that we are now almost at the point where we have almost had enough pre-bookings to cover the first 150 places to qualify for all the free gifts on offer for pre-registrants. As you know, some items in the Goodie Bag (the posters and stickers) are limited to the first 150 places and as we now have 136 bookings, you will really need to register in the next 7 days or so to have a chance of getting these in your packs!!

We're still talking to companies in regards to other items and we'll bring you updates as we know what else we get. The other confirmed items - Transform-A-Snacks and Model & Collector's Mart - are available for all attendees so don't worry if your ticket numbers are above 150 as you'll get them!

Booking Warning

One thing we do want to remind you about is pre-booking. As you can see from the figure above, with three months to go, ticket sales are doing phenomenally well. In fact, compared with last year when we had 320 attendees, we reached this stage with only a month to go so we are well on course to selling out BEFORE the event and NOT having any on-the-door places available. If you are planning on attending Auto Assembly 2005 then we strongly recommend that you register as soon as possible to guarantee your place.

Because of the hall capacity once we have dealers tables, exhibition space and activities etc. we are only allowing 500 tickets to be sold and once we reach that figure, we will not be selling any more tickets and as with every year, we always get a last minute rush in the last month where ticket sales double but we have never had tickets sell as fast as they are right now! If you want to join us this year, you know what to do!

17th February 2005 Booking Confirmations Shipping Soon!

We're putting the final touches to the info packs right now and we should have these finished over the weekend. Once we've done that, we should be starting to send these out next week to all of you who have already pre-registered for Auto Asembly 2005 (all 115 of you so far!). The packs will contain general convention information, the convention rules, travel and hotel information, your ticket details, competition entry forms, volunteering information (incase you want to help out) and spare booking forms for you to pass on to your friends.

We'll be sending these out in order of when you booked but the first of these will be hopefully going out by the middle of next week but as you can imagine, we've got a lot of envelopes to send out!

MiniCT Is Out!

Our new fiction fanzine, MiniCT, has been released and contains a selection of stories covering all eras of Transformers. Selling for just £1, proceeds from the zine are going towards the Auto Assembly 2005 guest fund and subsequently once we can get guests for our events, split between our two charities.

Issue 1 is out now and is a 20-page A5 fanzine and was released at the recent Auto Assembly Forum meet held in Birmingham City Centre where we had about 25 fans get together for a great day out. If you're interested in getting a copy of the fanzine, you can get one at any of the meets, at the Stellar Dreams / Auto Assembly table at any Memorabilia show in Birmingham, at Auto Assembly itself or ordering directly.

To get your copy, you can send us a cheque/postal order payable to "Infinite Frontiers" for £1.30 (which includes postage) to Mini CT, Auto Assembly, PO Box 8966, Great Barr, Birmingham, B43 5ST. Alternatively, you can pay us by PayPal. Just make a payment of £1.50 (which also covers postage and our PayPal charges) to our PayPal account which is AutoAssembly@aol.com

Issue 2 is in production now and will hopefully be available at Memorabilia in April. If you want to order that at the same time, just add an extra £1.30 if paying by cheque/postal order or £1.50 if paying by PayPal and it will be sent to you when it is released.

8th February 2005 100th Registration!

Congratulations to Mike Webb who became the 100th person to register for Auto Assembly 2005 earlier today! We're already on track to smash ALL attendance records for Auto Assembly this year and at the rate bookings have come in recently, we are expecting to beat last year's figure from pre-bookings alone and it is looking very likely that we may even sell out in advance!

If you haven't already booked yet, we'd strongly recommend that you pre-register NOW to unsure you can get in! This time last year, we were only 50 days away from AA2004 with this many bookings so you can see we're way ahead of last year!

31st January 2005 Transform-A-Snacks Are Back!

Thanks once again must go to those wonderful people at Red Mill Snack Foods who will be sponsoring Auto Assembly for the third year running and supplying us with plenty of Transform-A-Snacks to give away to everyone attending this year. Now if that wasn't a good enough reason to come along, we don't know what is!!

10th December 2004 Website / Bookings Update

After an agonising 3 month wait, Simon's shiny new PC has finally arrived (a long story!) so you should see the site being updated more frequently. Also, this will mean that we'll also be sending out all the booking confirmations very soon along with your receipts that you'll need to present on the day for A2005 and we are now going to start work on some new fundraising projects for AA2005 that will appear just after Christmas.

We may have a few other surprises on the way that we can now start work on as well...!

30th November 2004 Attendance Breaks Auto Assembly 2001 Total!

The bookings for Auto Assembly 2005 are still flying in and following the fluffy of bookings at Memorabilia last weekend we've now smashed the figure we had for the second Auto Assembly back in 2001. At this rate, we are well on course to make 2005 not only the biggest Auto Assembly EVER, but the biggest Transformers event ever in Europe and it is quite possible that the event will be a complete sell out in advance!

28th November 2004 Model & Collectors Mart In The Goodie Bag Again!

For the third year running, we are pleased to confirm that our partnership with Model & Collectors Mart magazine will be continuing at Auto Assembly 2005 and everyone attending will be getting a copy of the latest issue of the magazine FREE in their goodie bag, worth £2.80!!

Thanks must got to Model & Collector's Mart's editor Dean Shepherd and Lee Guest for arranging this for us.

24th November 2004 Titan Books Competition!

Thanks to those very nice chaps over at Titan Books, we've got three copies of their new hardback edition of Cybertron Redux to give away. It's the collected edition of the G1 Marvel comics from Issues 13 to 18, written by Bob Budiansky, and the competition can be found in the new Competitions section on the website!

Good luck everyone!

31st October 2004 Auto Assembly In Tomart's Action Figure Digest!

For those of you who are interested, there is a piece on Auto Assembly 2004 in the latest issue of Tomart's Action Figure Digest (November 2004, Issue 127) in the International Round-Up. It's just under a page of coverage and as well as a report on the event there are photos of Wally Wingert and Metrodome's Jane Lawson along with one of Sven showing off his boxed Fort Max!

It's quite a good piece and we'd like to thank Brian Doyle for giving us a mention. Keep an eye out in your local comic stores for a copy!

26th October 2004 Memorabilia Prize Draw!

The latest update on Auto Assembly 2005 is that we will be having a presence at Memorabilia at the NEC in Birmingham in November and we're actually having a table there promoting the event (well, half a table!) and we're running a prize draw for everyone attending the two-day Memorabilia show...!

All you need to do is book for Auto Assembly 2005 on either the Saturday or the Sunday at Memorabilia and you'll be entered into a FREE prize draw to win a Transformers DVD - it's as simple as that! The draw will take place on the Sunday evening after the show and the winner will be announced here on Monday night with the DVD being sent out during the week to the lucky winner.

However, don't worry if you have already pre-booked for AA2005 - you will still be entered into this draw automatically and EVERYONE will still be entered into the relevant prize draws for all our pre-registrants and for more details on these, see the Auto Assembly website! Don't forget, the earlier you pre-book, the more prize draws you'll be entered into and with almost 50 pre-bookings already the first prize draw is close to taking place...!

Good luck!

Postal Woes Over!

Well our mail problems seem to have sorted themselves out so all our bookings and other mail seems to be getting to us as normal. I wonder if it was the "friendly" word that we had with the post office that had anything to do with it...?! Anyway, things should be back to normal from now on!

23rd October 2004 Postal Problems

There is a chance that we might be having a few difficulties with our PO Box at the moment. We've found that a few items posted to us recently haven't arrived. We don't know if this is just a one-off situation or a more serious problem. What we would ask is that if you have booked for AA2005 recently by mail and not had an email or confirmation from us or noticed that your cheque has been cashed, please email us here with your name and details of your booking and we'll let you know if it's arrived safely.

We hope that this is a blip with the PO Box and has just affected a couple of items of mail but we're looking into this with the Royal Mail at the moment so please bear with us.

24th September 2004 First Goodie Bag Freebies Announced!

The first items for our now infamous goodie bag for attendees can be confirmed for Auto Assembly 2005! The first item is limited in quantity and as such, is only going to be available for the first 150 people who register for the event and will be a pack of the G1 Transformers stickers produced by Cards Inc worth £0.40 a pack! This is just the start of the Goodie Bag and in the last couple of years the packs have been worth close to, if not more that the price of registration so expect a lot more announcements soon!

With almost 40 pre-registrations in already with over 250 days to go, and the last two Auto Assembly events both having in excess of 150 pre-registrants, we don't think supplies of these stickers will last long so if you want to get these as part of your pack, book early to avoid disappointment!

21st September 2004 Seven Guests And Counting...

Auto Assembly 2005 is on course not only to smash it's all-time attendance record, but at the rate things are going, it looks as if we are going to have more guests than any other Auto Assembly event as well! We've now confirmed guest number seven with the announcement that we are going to be joined by comic colourist Jason Cardy making his first official appearance as a UK convention guest!

7th September 2004 From CD to DVD...

We've delayed our CD-ROM again but this time for a good reason... it's now going to be a DVD!! At the moment, we're not 100% sure if it's going to be a DVD-ROM or a DVD Video with a DVD-ROM section, but rest assured that it's going to be a packed disc! There will be documentary footage covering the first four Auto Assembly events, photo galleries, audio recordings of talks from AA2004, plus a massive selection of files for the PC, digital fanzines and much more!

If you've already pre-ordered it, you'll get the disc sent to you as soon as it's released and we will still be releasing the DVD at the same price that we originally priced the CD-ROM at... just £7.50!! You can pre-order your copy now! Proceeds from the sale of the disc will go towards Auto Assembly 2005's guest budget with anything left over going to our nominated charities.

6th September 2004 On Our Own?

You may have heard that Transforce 2004 last month was the last one. It's sad to hear that Paul Cannon has decided to call it a day for Europe's longest running Transformers convention and we'd like to wish him well for the future. However, BotCon in the US has also decided not to run any more and OTFCC has also just lost it's licence last week following poor performance and a decision from Hasbro to revoke their licence.

What this means for you, the fans, is that there are now fewer Transformers events than ever, and Auto Assembly is the ONLY event taking place in the UK for 2005 and there are just a handful taking place worldwide. We expect places at all of the conventions everywhere in the world to sell faster than ever so if you are planning on coming along to AA2005, we'd suggest you book as fast as you can to avoid disappointment.

28th July 2004 Website Facelift

We've been giving the site a bit of a facelift and tidying things up a little so you shoud find some of the content a little easier to find from now on. We've made some dramatic changes to the front menu which now sees more advertising. We know that this may be a bit annoying for some of you, but supporting the site with advertising with your help is the only way we can keep this site going and hopefully bring actors to Auto Assembly each year.

We're also using the facelift as an opportunity to give the reviews section a boost to its profile so you should see more reviews appearing online soon. We've got a lot more DVD and game reviews being written at the moment and a lot more content besides and we should be adding a lot more to the Transformers: Unlimited section as well so get ready for a content explosion real soon...!!

21st July 2004 Bookings Come In At Record Rate!

Bookings are flying in already for AA2005 and we could be in for another record year! We are just a matter of days away from reaching the AA2000 figure already in just over six weeks(!), and at this rate we will easily beat the total from AA2004 in pre-bookings alone!!

Voice Actors At AA2005?

We've been asked this question repeatedly since AA2004 and we would love to bring another voice actor next year but it is all down to funding. If we can get suitable sponsorship, income from attendees, or sufficient commission from sales from site visitors using the advertisers on the site, then it's possible but otherwise we can't guarantee it. However, we do have no less than THREE Transformers voice actors who WANT to come along to AA2005...!

1st June 2004 Auto Assembly 2005 Bookings Are Open!!

We've now been able to confirm all the basic details for AA2005 including the venue, first few guests, prices and much more and as such we've now opened bookings! You can find downloadable booking forms in the AA2005 section of the site or even book online! Hope to see you there!

19th May 2004 Time to relax!

It's been just over a week since AA2004 ended and we've had a bit of a chance to unwind. We were joined by seven guests in the end and it was our biggest event yet with over 320 people attending. We're starting to add reports and photos to the site slowly and you'll find all of this over in the revamped AA2004 pages.

Auto Assembly 2005!

Yup, it's on the way! We've provisionally set the date as 4th June 2005 and we're close to confirming the new venue for the one-day event. We have guests who are already interested in coming along, and we have already set the ticket prices at just £7.50 for adults for the full day! The AA2005 section is already online so check it out for all the latest news or feel free to use the forum to put your questions and comments to us.
