We're just a few months
away from what is going to be - once again - the biggest event of the year for
European Transformers fans! As always, you can book your tickets online for
Auto Assembly 2011! and we are comtinuing to set new European attendance
records every year and we are convinced that Auto Assembly 2011 will be no
different! Auto Assembly 2011 is taking place over the weekend of Friday 12th -
Sunday 14th August 2011 in the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham,
England. At the moment, because our bank has closed all of its branches in
England, we are only accepting bookings online but we hope to be able to open
postal bookings in the near future.
To book, just choose the type of ticket
that you require, enter your name and date of birth details and then add it to
your shopping cart (this will open up in a new window). Please add each person
to your cart separately as we need to know the names and dates of birth for
each attendee so we can prepare passes for them properly. Once you have booked
all of your tickets and ordered any additional items that you may want, go to
the checkout to pay!
Please note that when you check out, 5% will
be added at the end for PayPal handling charges as we get charged this to
accept payments by PayPal and rather than increasing ticket prices for everyone
to cover this cost, we have no choice but to add this surcharge. As PayPal does
not have a system to add a surcharge option, it will show up on your shopping
cart as "postage and packing".
BOOKING DEADLINES
The convention is drawing nearer and we are
now having to set an absolute deadline for you to book your tickets online.
Because of our revised way pf handling passes this year, we can accept bookings
far later than ever this year. We will have our full PC suite and pass
production equipment with us at the convention and while we are departing for
the hotel a few days before the event, we will still have full internet access
so we will able to accept and process bookings right up until the evening of
Wednesday 10th August 2011!! Bookings MUST be received by no later than
10:00 pm GMT and be paid for by PayPal using your credit/debit card or PayPal
balance. For bookings made this late, we can not accept payments made by
echeques. As soon as we receive your booking, you will receive a confirmation
email with your ticket number and you will need to bring this along to the
convention with you so you can collect your pass and goodie bag.
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE YOU HAVE
BOOKED?
We're sure that once you've made your booking - online or
by post - you want to know what happens next! Well, if you don't know, Auto
Assembly is run on a non-profit making basis by Infinite Frontiers, a
science fiction fan organisation founded by Simon Plumbe in 1989. Auto Assembly
is organised by a small team in our spare time (see elsewhere on this site for
more information about us) so as you can understand, this means that our time
can be stretched with running the convention, work and family life. For the
bookings side of things are processed by committee head Simon Plumbe and his
wife Trish.
Anyway, back to the bookings and once your booking comes
in it's allocated a ticket number (to ensure that we don't overflow with
attendees!). Within a few days, you'll be sent an email confirming your ticket
numbers, the names of everyone you have booked for and this email will also
have the hotel details and how you can book rooms at the discount rate we have
negotiated... There will also be a link to a survey that we are asking all
pre-registrants to complete to find out what you all want from Auto Assembly
2011. After this, we may send out a few other progress report emails and
updates.
Your pass for the convention won't be physically posted
out to you, but instead will be available for collection at the convention
itself. Keep your confirmation email safe and print it out and bring this email
with you. Present this at our check-in desk and you will be handed your pass,
programme for the weekend and your goodie bag full of free gifts. Details of
the pick up times will be published online shortly.
At the same time, we will be producing a Convention
Information Pack. This will be your all-in-one guide to Auto Assembly 2011 and
contain all the important details you need to know about the convention, the
convention rules, and some convention tips for those of you joining us for the
first time. This will be available here on the website as a download.
REFUNDS AND OTHER QUESTIONS
We have had people ask if they have already booked but
then can't make it whether they can then get a refund.
To be honest, the answer to this is no. If you book
concert tickets and subsequently can't attend, you wouldn't expect to be able
to get your money back on that. We will be only too happy to help transfer your
tickets to a friend, although we'd need to update our records on this and have
the original receipts returned to be destroyed and replaced and there may be an
administrative charge if we have already printed the physical tickets to cover
the cost of producing new ones.
Also, please note that if you purchase a single day pass,
it is only for use on the day that it is intended and is non-transferrable.
Saturday tickets can only be used on a Saturday, and Sunday passes can only be
used on a Sunday so please choose carefully. There will be different activities
and guest panels taking place on each day so choose which is the best day for
you to attend.
We may look into offering a limited refunds policy for
Auto Assembly 2012 but this will be announced in due course.
